Epic's Fortnite Returns to Google Play Appstore Nearly 6 Years After

Epic Games confirmed on March 19 that Fortnite has officially returned to the Google Play Store globally, and the game is now available on Android app stores worldwide. This return coincides with the launch of the new season of the battle royale mode, and Android users can download and install the game directly through official channels.

Epic Games announced that players can now download the game from Google Play and join the new season with friends. The company is also promoting the “Invite Friends” feature, which allows players to level up and unlock the Yeddy outfit.

The mobile experience has also been updated. Marvel | Blitz mode has added a new batch of loot, including Captain America’s shield; the Festival main stage supports portrait mode, allowing players to directly tap the musical note tracks and receive haptic feedback during gameplay.

Regarding payments, Epic emphasizes that using its own payment system earns a 20% reward. This feature is currently available on Google Play in the US and globally on the Epic Games Store for iOS, web, and PC. The company states it is working to expand this payment method to more Google Play regions.

IT Home Note: Fortnite was removed from Google Play in August 2020 because Epic Games introduced its own payment system, violating platform policies. Since then, Android users can still obtain the game through other channels, but cannot download it through Google’s official channels.
