Apple on Sunday acquired MotionVFX, a well-known Final Cut Pro plugin company.
MotionVFX is a Polish company founded in 2009 by Szymon Masiak. The company creates high-quality plugins, transitions, templates, and visual effects (VFX) for video editors, focusing on providing tools for Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Apple Motion, such as mFilmLook, mO2, and Design Studio extensions. MotionVFX released a statement today on its official website:
We are thrilled to announce that MotionVFX has officially joined the Apple team and will continue to empower creators and editors to create even better content.
For over 15 years, we have been dedicated to creating world-class, visually impactful content and effects for video editors. From our inception, we have upheld the principles of quality, ease of use, and excellent design—values we deeply admire in Apple products. We are thrilled to partner with Apple to put these principles into practice.
On this occasion, we sincerely thank all our customers and partners who have supported and accompanied us over the years. It is you who have inspired us, spurred our progress, and made our products what they are today. We are honored to be a part of this wonderful community and look forward to continuing to serve you in the future.
This will be the start of a brand new and wonderful journey!
MotionVFX has long been one of the most well-known third-party developers in the Final Cut Pro ecosystem. Its plugins are widely used by YouTube users, filmmakers, and broadcast editors who want to add high-end motion graphics and stylized visual effects without having to build from scratch.
Its most popular tools include mFilmLook (which provides cinematic color grading and film simulation effects) and mO2 (a powerful plugin that allows the use of 3D models directly in Final Cut Pro and Apple Motion). MotionVFX also offers Design Studio, a panel extension that allows users to browse and install effects and templates directly in Final Cut Pro.
MotionVFX’s expertise in templates, transitions, and 3D workflows could help Apple improve Final Cut Pro’s built-in graphics tools, potentially reducing reliance on third-party plugins.
Following the acquisition, MotionVFX’s 70 employees have officially joined Apple. The company was already a global partner of Apple.
