Former iQOO Manager Explains Decline of Mid-Range LCD Phones

Ma Yulun, former product manager of the iQOO Z series, addressed the question, “Why don’t manufacturers release mid-to-high-end LCD phones?” in an article today. He stated that, realistically, LCD technology is no longer suitable for mid-to-high-end products.

Ma Yulun mentioned “three reasons he was reluctant to admit”:

  • High-end LCD resources are decreasing, the number of available options is dwindling, and updates are slow.

  • High-quality LCDs are sometimes more expensive, and they are also less reusable and riskier.

  • It takes a lot of resources to “explain why it’s good,” and it will also compete with the selling points of other main products.

He frankly admitted that the problem wasn’t whether LCDs were good or bad, but that they were no longer a “cost-effective option.” It is noted that Ma Yulun also revealed three more important, truly life-or-death reasons, but he didn’t directly state them this time.
