Major manufacturers are exploring ways to monetize AI. For example, OpenAI has started adding ads to ChatGPT, and Alibaba Cloud’s Tongyi Qianwen has integrated the order placement function for food delivery e-commerce.
According to a report yesterday by AGI (Agency Intelligence), ByteDance’s Doubao has recently begun internal testing of a “shopping order” feature, allowing users to directly order and pay for goods within the Doubao app without being redirected to Douyin (TikTok). They believe Doubao will release this feature to the public as early as this month.
According to QuestMobile data, Doubao has consistently ranked first on the Apple App Store charts since overtaking DeepSeek in August 2025. Data shows that during this year’s CCTV Spring Festival Gala, Doubao’s DAU (Daily Active Users) peaked at 145 million.
ByteDance CEO Liang Rubo once mentioned that for ByteDance, the short-term “peak” is Doubao/Dola Assistant. He pointed out that Doubao’s user base is growing rapidly and the product experience is continuously improving, but there is still a gap compared to leading global competitors.
