Microsoft Officially Discontinues Outlook Lite

Microsoft confirmed to TechCrunch on Monday that Outlook Lite will be discontinued on May 26th. Launched in 2022, this lightweight version of the regular Outlook app was designed for Android phones with limited storage and regions with slow internet speeds.

It was noted that the app was already slated for removal from the store; Microsoft announced last year that it would remove it from the Google Play Store in October 2025. Now, the company has confirmed that existing users will no longer be able to use the app’s features starting next month.

Microsoft states on the Outlook Lite support page: “To continue to enjoy a secure and feature-rich email experience, we recommend that you switch to Outlook Mobile.”

Outlook Lite users can still view their existing emails, calendar events, and attachments after logging into the mobile version of Outlook. The system will also guide users to the Google Play Store to download the standard version of the Outlook app.
