Huawei Projects 100 Million HarmonyOS Devices Before Winter

At the Huawei HarmonyOS Smart Home Technology Communication Conference this Wednesday, He Gang, CEO of Huawei Terminal BG, announced that the number of HarmonyOS terminal devices has exceeded 47 million, and the number of applications and meta-services available in the application market has exceeded 350,000.

During yesterday’s live broadcast, Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s Executive Director, Chairman of the Product Investment Review Committee, and Chairman of the Terminal BG, revealed that the user base of the HarmonyOS system is experiencing rapid growth and is expected to reach a key milestone before this winter.

During the live broadcast, Yu Chengdong stated that the number of terminal devices currently equipped with HarmonyOS 5 and HarmonyOS 6 has exceeded 47 million, and is maintaining a growth rate of hundreds of thousands of new users every day. He predicts that this number is expected to surpass 100 million before this winter.

With the rapid expansion of the user base, the experience of HarmonyOS native applications is also continuously being optimized. Yu Chengdong stated that it is expected that by March or April of this year, the compatibility level of HarmonyOS Apps will be basically on par with Apple’s iOS and Android systems, and will be “more refined and smoother,” with upgrades in functional experience.

Our HarmonyOS applications have also undergone numerous user experience upgrades, making them cleaner and more secure. For example, there’s anti-fraud protection, which is especially useful for elderly people back home who are less likely to be scammed. It has intelligent anti-fraud detection. This gives us more confidence to launch even more new products.

Looking back at the development trajectory of the HarmonyOS ecosystem, its expansion speed has clearly accelerated. Data shows that in November 2025, the number of terminal devices equipped with HarmonyOS 5 just exceeded 23 million. At that time, Yu Chengdong defined this in an internal letter to all employees as crossing a “critical life-or-death line,” marking the beginning of an accelerated positive cycle in the ecosystem.

In his letter, he clearly stated that the next goal was to quickly achieve coverage of 40 million, 60 million, and even over 100 million users, ultimately achieving a “one-third share” of the market. Now, the number of devices has jumped from 23 million to 47 million in just about four months, confirming his previous assessment of the accelerated expansion of the ecosystem.
